#24: Ageless Beauty: That J. Lo Birthday Pic, To Drink or Not To Drink? And Kundalini Practices To Increase Your Glow

Today we're talking today about aging.

Is there a spirituality to aging? Is it (still) taboo to discuss our age? What I know for sure is that it’s an incredibly hot topic, always.

I was inspired to discuss aging after seeing J. Lo’s 52nd birthday instagram post. Hello badass, radiant AF babe! It was all over the social media channels. That post reminded me of a bit of inspiration I took from J. Lo three years ago. It was the year I decided to remove alcohol from my life. I’d seen an interview on IG with J. Lo in which she shared that her #1 tip for anti-aging was no alcohol. I was intrigued.

Could I have even a sliver of J Lo’s radiance if I too stopped drinking alcohol?

In full transparency I had plenty of reasons to stop drinking alcohol besides the vanity of wanting a little more of what J. Lo was having.

Last week I ran a quick poll on instagram stories - I asked the question “do you drink alcohol?” and 62% of you said you’re not drinking alcohol these days! I was surprised by that number, and impressed honestly, and it got me thinking is this a new thing? Is this a spirituality or wellness driven shift?! Or did everyone just imbibe too much in 2020 and we’re taking a break now? Are we starting to normalize green juice over martinis? I hope so!

With that said, I’m not judging. I still love the idea of a ritual of wine or a spirit that connects you to - well, spirit. I just am not someone who was taking that ritualistic approach when it came to drinking. So much of the alcohol drinking that goes on isn’t just a ritualistic glass of wine -- and somehow it’s socially acceptable to have blackouts and hangovers.

Today my intuitive connection, my relationship to the divine, my meditation practice, and my inner radiance has turned way up since giving up alcohol. It's been a beautiful shift for me.

In this episode we’re talking about giving up alcohol as an anti-aging approach. We’re also  discussing Kundalini yoga practices that support us in living an ageless life.

A few modalities up for discussion: the Wim Hof cold immersion method, breathwork practices, yoga movements designed to increase our collagen production, and even chanting mantras.

I’d love to hear from you if you decide to give some of these methods a try, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on martinis vs. green juice too.

This fall I’ll be teaching a Kundalini Yoga Ageless Beauty workshop. Subscribe to my newsletter and come back for more details on that!
